Happy Birthday America

Yesterday was a wonderful day filled with red, white and blue and lots of relaxing! I put this dessert table together for my wee little family of three. Small yet mighty.

The "Chicken Fried" print I got off a blog. I had it printed and framed. I think it looks absolutely beautiful and it actually came out better than I expected it to. I purchased the sparkle (!) blue star and the "I <3 USA" pieces at Michael's for 70% (!) off! The flags and sparklers I got from Wal-Mart. The bunting, star plates and napkins are from Target. And the pinwheel is from CVS.

I made sangria for the occasion as well and made pineapple stars.

Overall it was a very relaxing day and great start to a 4 day weekend!

Happy 237th America.

Superhero Bash!

I can't believe my little Cy Guy is going to be a year old in less than two months. It's true what they say "The days and hours go by slow but the years go by fast." It seems like just yesterday I was decorating his fabulous nursery. And now, he plays in there everyday just like I imagined he would.

So, with this wonderful milestone coming up quickly, I had to get my party planning act together. Since it has been Disney non stop this whole year, we decided to go with a superhero theme to not be TOO annoying with the Disney stuff. :)

#PlanningNotebook

I am so excited for Cy's first birthday bash.  It's going to be so unforgettable and I can not wait to theme it out to the nines and make it such a special day for him.

48 days and counting!

Delightfully Disney

Unless you have been living under a rock, you all know that the C family ships off to Walt Disney World in October of this year. From wardrobe posts & saving jar posts, this house has been Disney Disney Disney for the past year and a half. As it should be, in my mind.

Well, one of my favorite blogs to read is DixieDelights. Amanda (this wonderful blog's author) is hosting a Disney memory book giveaway. I have been ogling these beauties for a while so I am officially entering my name into the contest! #VeryExcited

Check out the giveaway and Dixie Delights!

Disney Savings Jars

In our house, (and I'm sure in most houses) we need to make sure we save for Disney trips. To help us do that, we have two savings jars.

One of them, is a weekly savings jar. We have 24 weeks until we visit The Mouse. So..the first week we put $1 in the jar..the second week $2 and so on.

The other jar is a $5 jar. Basically, whenever we have a five dollar bill..whether it be because of change from a $20 or a $10. Or if we just happen to have one..we put it in the jar.

Hopefully these savings will help us with eating our way through Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival!

Here's how I made them...

Supplies..

#MasonJars

#FoamBalls

#BlackSprayPaint

#WoodSkewers

Spray paint the foam balls using the wood skewers as handles so your hands don't get painted black...

And..hot glue them into the shape of Mickey's head and adhere them to the mason jars...

Also, make a week by week savings sheet to keep track of your weeks and the money in the jar!

Enjoy your savings!!

Disney World Wardrobe

I am admittedly obsessed with planning every little detail. Including my wardrobe choices. Whenever I have an event to attend my first thought it always "What am I going to wear?" Because of my meticulous planning, whenever we go away on a vacation or a weekend away I always know exactly what I am going to pack. So, this cuts down on the age old over packing situation. Don't get me wrong..this has taken practice. I was a chronic over packer for years. I was the fool that would be climbing up stairs with 7 bags and a make up case.

That brings me to our Disney trip. I have been planning this trip for close to two years now. And by planning, I really mean planning my (Disney themed) outfits.

My main concern when picking wardrobe for Disney is that they are dresses or shorts. Appropriate for a family environment. And, they of course need to have some sort of Disney theme.

The tumblr account DisneyBound has given me all sorts of inspiration as well as things I have seen on Pinterest.

I also have to plan a Halloween type outfit for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. If you have never heard of this splendid event, you should look it up. Especially if you are as obsessed with Halloween as I am. This is the outfit I have chosen for that night..

#skeleton

You can't wear a full costume to Halloween Horror Nights, but I couldn't not wear something Halloween themed.

I also have some themed Tom's picked out for our trip. I came across some of these beauties while perusing Etsy...

I mean...how gorgeous are those? I always look at shoes as a work of art, but these take the cake. You are literally a walking canvas.

So, I am going to have a few pairs made for my trip. Some Disney ones and also some superhero ones for when we visit Universal Studios/Islands Of Adventure.

I did a bit of a superhero theme for the outfit I wore to Universal last time we went...this time I want to be a little more over the top with it...

I got the head band on......where else.... ETSY And I will most likely be buying another one for this trip.

As the time goes on I will have more outfits put together. And as an added bonus, I get to plan outfits for Cy which I am so very pumped about. I can't wait to coordinate with him. I always like us to match.

Speaking of matching, the mister and I will be wearing these tanks during our week with The Mouse...

#HakunaMatata

AND, speaking of hash tags and my obsession with Twitter I had to order this shirt right when I saw it..

What does everyone else do for vacation wardrobe planning?

Disney World 2013

Yesterday kicked off our Disney World Countdown! I am so totally obsessed with anything Disney, so I am very grateful that we have the opportunity to take The Cy Guy and show him where Mickey Mouse lives!

Also, The Mister and I are very excited to be making a huge dent in Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival. When we were there for our honeymoon, we only got to experience one day of the festival. This year we will be there right in the thick of it and can't wait to try all the great eats!

Dr. Suess Nursery

After taking a blog hiatus I came back ready to work. But, then I realized I never posted an official compilation of my son's (Cy's) room! He's going to be six months in a few days and I can't believe how fast it has flown by. I remember being pregnant and designing this nursery for him.

Everyone thought I was crazy-insane when I said I was doing a Dr. Seuss themed nursery and the colors were going to be black, white and red (with black and white wonky stripes on the walls to boot). But, it ended up being one of my best design projects to date. Everyone loves it and babies ESPECIALLY love it!

I feel like his room is the "wink" to our apartment.

First, we have two hanging book shelves that I got on Amazon. I wanted the books to be the pops of color in the room. The print in the middle says "The Rules to Always Being a Gentleman." I got it on Etsy

I love myself some shelves and I was so happy when I found this red book shelf. I feel like it really adds to the Dr. Seuss quirk. I also got it from a seller on Etsy.

Sidebar - Everything in my house/my wedding/my life is from Etsy.

#ChicBaby

And then there is the crib area..

It has a temporary wall decal Dr. Seuss quote on it -

"Today you are you, that is truer then true,
there is no one alive, who is youer than you."

The sheet set (and crib) I found at Target. I feel like I really lucked out on the bedding purchase. It was very hard to find a set that was not pastel colors or a theme.

\

Right next to the crib I have a "Baby Info Plaque". I made it for under $10!

Storage is always a big part of my designs. The black squares on the right are from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I got them around the time they have all of their dorm merch at the end of the summer. The dresser we found in our house. And redid it. It was green and we painted it a really nice grey color. The drawer pulls I got from.....you guessed it - Etsy.

The ABC sign is actually what inspired this whole color scheme. And, all of the Dr. Seuss prints I made for under $30. I printed out coloring pages and framed them in frames from Christmas Tree Shops. I love them so, so much!

On a side note...The Mister went to India for business recently and brought The Cy Guy back some traditional Indian garb! It is très chic.

It's a little big, but he will rock it one day!

Babies and Blogs do not mix

Okay..so I had a baby. There is my excuse for not blogging for months. Babies are time consumers.

Anyway...I started this blog to have an outlet to put all of my crafting/decorating/party planning/fashion ventures. And, as a late New Years resolution, I would like to get back to blogging a few times (maybe more) a week.

So, forgive me for the hiatus. But, I am back and better than ever!
