Musings {Reality TV Edition}

Game of Crowns -

Game of Crowns is a new show on Bravo (duh) chronicling pageant queens of the "Mrs." variety. Now, I have to admit...I was not interested in watching this show at all. When I saw the teaser for this I immediately dismissed it simply due to the fact that I have way too many bitchy Bravo women inhabiting my reality show repertoire to add whole 'nother cast. BUT then I found out at it was based solely in Rhode Island/CT so I once again drank the Bravo Kool Aid and watched! I also had a slight blip on the radar while I was watching the first episode and thought I should participate in Mrs. pageants myself. No worries though, as I continued watching and witnessing how badly these "beauty queens" behave, I passed on that thought real quick. This show is exactly what you would expect out of a Bravo show about (kind of old) beauty queens. Lots of high pitched yelling, lots of weaves mixed in with a whole 'lotta Rhode Island/New England accents. Watch with caution though, I have now added it to my DVR list of automatic recordings...Bravo wins again.

Candidly Nicole -

Simple Life Nicole is still a favorite of mine.

Candidly Nicole is a new (possibly roughly scripted?) show on VH1 following around Nicole Richie in her every day life as she has wine with her (seemingly normal and not "Hollywood") mom friends and hangs out with her famous family (Lionel Richie was in last night's episode!) Now, this show is definitely interesting because Nicole is a total headcase...A sane one that's been through rehab, but definitely one none the less. She is ridiculously funny because she is so blunt and forthcoming and a little weird in her delivery that you can't help but laugh at/with her. Except you are more laughing at her because everything that comes out of her mouth comes out with a straight face so you never know if she is kidding or serious. Most of the time I think it's the latter. This is a good one to give a chance..She is hilariously funny and some of her friends that make appearances on the show almost seem some what...normal?

LeAnn and Eddie -

LeAnn and Eddie is also a new show on VH1 starring LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian. I can honestly say I only watched this show to see the train wreck that IS LeAnn Rimes and what her and Eddie are like as a couple. I'm not sure I'll follow this all the way through the season, but it was definitely interesting to see these two on reality cameras. I will admit this...there are some celebrities that I usually like more after watching their reality show and seeing how down to earth they are...this was not the case with L&E...they seem kind of stuck up and fake. LeAnne also comes off as very insecure to me...I guess I can't really blame her seeing as how tabloids have massacred her over the past few years. Sometimes I understand that celebs do these reality shows to get "their side of the story" out there but I am telling you right now, this show doesn't do any favors for LeAnne and Eddie.

Musings

Product Junkie -

I mentioned in a previous post that I am attempting to now do my highlighting and contouring with cream based foundations and concealers instead of powders. It has been working out really well. I have a new favorite foundation (L'Oreal True Match) and I am still getting used to working with the Beauty Blender as opposed to my Sephora stippling brush. The BB definitely gives your foundation a more airbrushed look, which I appreciate and the foundation is a medium coverage so it's great in conjunction with the BB for a light, airy, summery look.

Biting the Trend Bullet -

I finally had to bite the trend bullet and buy myself a pair of black strappy sandals. I got them at The Shoe Dept. (online) and they were only $12.98! I was excited about that because I never like to spend a ton of money on trendy items. Alas, I got this amazing jumpsuit at H&M (for $4.95 I might add) that needed this pair of shoes. Stay tuned for an #OOTD!

Real Housewives of NJ -

As all of you Housewives fans know, RHONJ started last night and it was a crazy one (per usual). Here is my take - The three new girls I am "meh" on right now. I need a few more episodes to form a proper opinion. I feel so bad for the Guidices...especially Gia. Their lives just seems so sad right now. I am happy to see Dina back! She was always a favorite of mine on Jersey Housewives and it's nice to see her back into the dramz. We shall see what kind of drama the ladies can pull out this season!

Real Housewives Rundown

Since I watch every city of the Real Housewives franchise, I never run out of Housewives to talk about. Here are a few things that have been on my mind lately -

Real Housewives of NY - #RHONY -

#DoggyFuneralChic

For those that have been watching, you all know that Sonja lost her beloved poodle recently. And, as any Real Housewife knows, when a furry loved one dies, the only thing you can do is throw the chicest Uptown doggy funeral you have ever seen. Complete with programs, amazing fashions, and a blessing by a Swami priestess. I loved every second of the doggy funeral scene and makes me love Sonja (with a sexy J) even more than I already do. Besides Radzi, Sonja is my favorite NY Housewife.

Right turn alert - Where the eff did George (Aviva's creepy father) and his 25 year old fiance come from?! And what was with the weird engagement? Aviva and George creep me OUT and I am over them on the show. It was so nice that in the episodes when the ladies were in the Berkshires Aviva wasn't there or in the opening credits. I heard it was because she refused to go to the Berkshires with the cast so the producers wanted to punish her for it so they cut her out of those two episodes (that means no pay check either as the 'Wives get paid by the episode)

Real Housewives of Orange County - #RHOC -

I've been loving this new season. Heather Dubrow is my favorite 'Wife of the group and she is who I aspire to be when I grow up. I know a lot of people say that she is condescending but I think that she's allowed to be. She is the classiest Housewife in all the OC land and I think it totally rude (and class-LESS) what Vicki is doing every time she talks. The whole snoring bit is getting old "OG of the OC" (Original Gangsta of Orange County) so please stop because you are super annoying. I know they keep hiring Vicki back every season because she is super loyal to them since she has been around from the very beginning of the 'Wives franchise..but I think her story line is getting old and I am kind of over her. As far as the new Housewives go, I think Shannon is...meh...kind of needy and I think her husband, David, is super inappropriate. Especially in this last episode when he told Heather Dubrow to "spread your legs" as she got on a mechanical bull at her hoedown. A few too many tequila shots with girls other than his wife for that one. #Ick...I really like Lizzie even though we haven't seen much of her yet. We'll have to Watch What Happens (see what I did there?) and see I still like her at the end of the season!

Other Housewives news -

| If anyone has been following the whole Bethenny Frankel divorce saga you know that things took a turn for the fugly yesterday as her and her soon to be ex husband, Jason, had their day in court to determine the custody agreement for their daughter, Bryn. You can read the transcripts here

| By now you have all probably seen the Real Housewives of New Jersey teaser. And as with any season in Dirty Jers y'all know we are in for some DRAMA. I think it's a little shady that Dina Manzo is all of a sudden back after Jacqueline and The Manzo's left but, I do love me some Dina so I am not TOO offended. Never fear though, The Manzo's will be back to Bravo with their very own spinoff Manzo'd With Children towards the end of the year. I do love the Manzo clan as they remind me of my large Italian family so I am pretty excited for that. What I am not excited for however, is Theresa and Joe's legal woes to play out on the #RHONJ. Although they were entertaining for some time, I feel as though this season may just be a little hard to watch and sad. It's probably why Bravo did such a big casting change this season, they need some new meat for when Tre and Joe are thrown in the clink.

| Kim Zolciak has been teasing the second season of her spin off Don't Be Tardy. I can't wait for this as I love me some "crazy white girl with a bunch of diamonds and a wig." Nene Leakes' words, not mine! :)

Musings {Reality TV Edition}

Real Housewives of Atlanta - For those of you that watch the Atlanta Housewives, you all know that the second episode of the reunion (there are three) just aired last night. It was a doozy. Just like the whole season has been. As far as the whole Kenya and Porsha situation goes..I have to say that I am on Porsha's "side." While I DO NOT condone any sort of violence, I do think P was provoked and that Andy should have taken Kenya's props away. He mentioned the fact that he should have taken the props away on WWHL last night and I couldn't agree more. I think the whole situation could have been avoided had Kenya NOT put the scepter in Porsha's face...it was definitely hard to watch. As far as the whole Kandi/Mama Joyce situation goes...I am obviously on Kandi's side. Mama Joyce is cringe worthy at times and seems like she could use some "time off." Mama can't seem to keep her story straight and I feel so bad for Kandi and Todd..Luckily their wedding already happened (two weeks after the reunion was filmed) and hopefully they can live happily ever after without Mama Joyce in their ears. I am interested to watch next weeks third and final Atlanta reunion installment as this is the episode where Apollo talks about the charges against him. I am very curious to see what he says! And to keep things simple in the Nene/Cynthia debate...I am on Cynthia's side..I do love me some Lennethia Leaks...but, I just think Nene needs to take a step back and take some responsibility for her actions.

Funny or Die's - Billy on the Street (technically a game show, not a reality show) - I am obsessed with this show. I first heard of Billy Eichner when he was a guest on WWHL. He is hysterical and shocking and the perfect person to run around and scream in unsuspecting (and jaded) New Yorkers faces. Amy Poehler was on the last episode. During the episode, Billy and Amy played my new favorite game...It's not Pitbull..it's Amy Poehler! You can watch here.

The Real Housewives of Orange County - The OG's of the Housewife franchise started their new season recently and I can already tell it's going to be a good one! I am really happy that Gretchen and Alexis are not on the cast anymore..I liked G at first but lost interest when she made her last ditch attempt for a story line (aka proposing to Slade and not inviting the other ladies to come to the party). Although Tamera and Vicki are giving Heather a hard time, I do not think she is THAT condescending. I've just always thought Heather WAS better than everyone on the show..so the fact that she sometimes talks down to Tamera and Vicki doesn't really bother me. I mean...could you imagine spending that much time with them? I would talk down to them too. Don't get me wrong..I love me some Tamera..just in small doses...speaking of T...tell me you all remember the time that Tamera and Andy made out (in front of Eddy) on the WWHL New Years special?! Fun Fact - WWHL has never had another New Years Eve show after that lip lock!

Musings

Since I ran my first timed 5K I have been dealing with an injury. Achilles Tendinitis to be exact. I didn't get it diagnosed right away as with any pain I have, I just figure it will go away. It didn't and now I am stuck on a limited work out schedule and on a daily stretching routine. I have never been injured before. Pretty much because I have never been as active as I have been in the past year(ish) so it's really frustrating. Especially because summer is on it's way and all I want to do is run and spin and jump. I am very impatient so I am hoping for a speedy recovery so I can get back to my 6 hours a week of workouts. UGH!

The Southern Charm season finale was the other night and it was obviously the greatest thing I have ever seen. I can not believe that T.Rav and Kathryn had a baby! Andy Cohen said the other day that they are doing a reunion show so that usually means there will be a second season! Yay for that! After watching the whole season I am pretty convinced I want to live in Charleston, SC. As a trust fund kid, obv.

I have been participating in an April photo contest on Instagram for a local salon/boutique Luniac Glamour. It has been so much fun thinking of different pictures to post every day. Here are some highlights -

Day 4 - A word that best describes you -

Day 8 - Man Crush -

#MyMan

Day 14 - Something someone made for you -

All of the bouquets and boutineers for our wedding were handmade out of feathers (Etsy). AND I had the Minnie Mouse bouquet charm handmade as well (Etsy). It gave the perfect little touch because our fur baby couldn't be with us on the actual wedding day.

To end this musings post...I found this on Instagram the other day and literally laughed for 5 mins straight...it's the little things..

Top Ten Questions {Andy Cohen}

I was watching Watch What Happens Live the other night and Lindsay Lohan was a guest. It got me thinking how many people have come in and out of the Bravo Clubhouse and it also made me think of all of the questions I have for Andy Cohen, WWHL's adorable host. To spare you the wall of words, I am narrowing it down to ten.

1. What is Lindsay Lohan like?
2. Which Housewife can you absolutely not stand?
3. What is it like to be pushed by Theresa Giudice?
4. Can I come hang out with you in the Hamptons?
5. Can I hang out with you and Anderson Cooper...(and SJP)..(and Kelly Ripa)...please?
6. Can I be a bartender in the clubhouse one night?
7. Is Billy Eichner really that cray in real life?
8. Do you ever see Jill Zarin out at social events? Is it awk?
9. Do you think Nene Leakes throws shade at you every time she sees you? (My answer - YES!)
10. When is the last time you've texted Mama Elsa?

Musings

Southern Charm - I have said it a million times...this show is amazing! I hope it gets renewed for a second season. T.Rav is my favorite because he is so clueless and Cameran is another favorite because she tells it like it is. Also I am pretty sure Kathryn (red head) is one of those gingey's with no soul. (Disclaimer - I do not think all gingeys have no soul...but Kathryn? Yes.) And how freaking adorbs is Shep? That fake teeth smile is just so good...T.Rav, Shep and Cameran were on WWHL last night and T.Rav announced that he will be running for state senator of South Carolina. So stay tuned for that! Not sure if having his one night stand take a pregnancy test on camera will help or hurt his campaign...

I posted about this on Instagram and Facebook (&Twitter) today...Charlotte Olympia's Spring 2014 collection is SO AMAZING. Here are some pics that I didn't post on those various social media sites...

Talk about swoon worthy...The collection is totally worth the Google!!

I was watching Eric and Jessie Game On on E! today. Eric is Eric Decker from the Denver Broncos and his wife, Jessie James, is a country singer. They are an adorable couple and I love their show! In the episode I was watching, Jessie was having her baby shower. She was wearing a super short dress and needed to put a cloth napkin over her lap while she was opening her presents so as to not flash anyone. Funnily enough, I had to do the same thing at my baby shower! The cloth is "technically" called a "prayer cloth" which is basically a cloth you carry to church in case you are wearing a short dress and have to sit down. You don't want to flash anyone at church! PS - I learned this all by watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta..who said you don't learn anything from watching TV!?

My shower was Dr. Seuss themed (duh) and I made sure to wear the highest heels and the shortest dress possible. One last hurrah, if you will.

Musings + #OOTN

You'll have to forgive me for my lack of blogging the past few days. I am still recovering from my sickness and things have been crazy around here!

The Mister and I had a date night last night at Foxwoods. It was so much fun! We did a little bit of walking around the shops as well as some gambling. And by gambling, I mean putting a fiver in the slot machine at the bar and drinking for free. We also had some cocktails and sushi. It was glorious not having to rush to eat because a certain 19 month old was getting antsy.

There was also a candy store at Foxwoods with all kinds of cool stuff. A lot of their "novelties" had the word "lick" on them. So I assume when Miley is at Foxwoods in a few weeks that she will be heading to that store to pick up some wares...You heard it here first! Also, they had bacon flavored toothpaste that I am regretting not buying...

#BaconLover

And here are the deets about my #OOTN last night -
Shirt | Forever 21 | Glasses | Wet Seal | Jeans | JCPenny | Shoes | Cohoes
I posted this last night on Facebook, but I got this shirt for two reasons - 1. Because my brother really is a Brooklyn hipster and 2. Because Cy loves him some Elmo!

Right turn alert - There is this new reality show on USA called Chrisley Knows Best. It is my new favorite show of the week. It follows a wealthy Atlanta family's life. Two parents and their 5 kids. I will spare you and not try to explain the show to you in words. Here is the preview -

It's such a good show. And I aspire one day for The Mister and I to be parents like The Chrisley's. Aka - wealthy, southern and sassy! :) I also have a fascination with Atlanta. It's obviously started with The Housewives (thanks Bravo!) but continued because of all the House Hunters episodes and other Atlanta based reality shows. It just seems like such a cool place to live.

Facebook Playhouse

When there are true thespians in the WWHL Clubhouse, Andy makes them play this "game" called Housewives Playhouse. What this game consists of is said thespians "acting out" notorious scenes from The Real Housewives of {insert city here}. It is freaking hysterical and there are almost always wigs involved.

So, after watching a few of these, I came up with a genius new party game called "Facebook Playhouse." FBPH consists of taking those status updates that seem to infect everyone's news feeds and acting them out...after a few dirty martinis, of course.

Examples of status updates to act out -

- Any complaints about husbands/wives/partners/boyfriends/girlfriends/fiances
- Long, drawn out status' about something...but you never know what that something is
- StAtUs' ThAt ArE TyPeD LiKe DiS
- Any status that starts a fight between two Facebook friends and the proceeding comments

I am sure you all get the picture. This game would be set up like charades where everyone brings three status' from their news feeds (on separate pieces of paper) and puts them in a glass bowl. Then, you pick as you go.

Who's with me?!

Musings {Reality TV Edition}

16 and Pregnant/Teen Mom Season One Catch Ups - MTV did 4, hour long specials on each of the ladies that starred in the first season of 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom - Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn. The first season was the only one that I was ever interested in so I was looking forward to seeing all of their episodes. I have yet to watch Catelynn's but I did watch the other three and here's what I thought-

    - Maci - Maci is the most normal one out of all four of them. She actually has her ish together, her son seems to be adjusting well and she also has supportive grandparents on both her side and her baby daddy, Ryan's side. With all of the being said, her episode was rather boring to me! Haha I know that is awful but really, I stopped her show in order to watch some of the juicier ones (read: Farrah the one time porn star and Amber who just got out of jail)

   - Farrah -  Where do I start with this hot mess? Okay, so I do have to admit that her home life is a bit more mellow than I would have expected. AND she seems to have a really nice house/life in Austin, TX with her daughter, Sophia, and her dad, Michael. Apparently when you do a sex tape called "Back Door Teen Mom" you can afford an amazing house and a luxury car...as well as a private preschool for your daughter...not to mention the trips to the cosmetic esthetician once a week to give you that "busy mom" look. Not kidding, she really does do fillers and botox at 21 to look like a "busy mom." The Mister and I watched this together and we both agreed that apparently blogging is the wrong business to be in...Totally kidding..

   - Amber - I am actually really rooting for Amber. Her episode starts with the day she got out of jail. She was suppose to be in jail for close to 5 years but ended up only spending 18 months in the clink because she participated in a rehab program. The episode follows her getting acclimated with life out of jail and back with her daughter. Gary has custody of their daughter Leah but seems to be open to Leah spending time with her mom. Like I said, I am really rooting for Amber. I am hoping she stays off the drugs and keeps her anger under control in order to have a great life for her and her daughter. She also mentioned getting her "story" out there aka seeing who will give her an advance on a book deal. So stay tuned for that gem!

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - For all you watchers out there, you know that it's just more of the same in Bev Hills Land. Except they are currently in Puerto Rico so all of their fighting has a gorgeous beach background. FTR - I believe Brandi over Lisa that Lisa wanted to bring the tabloid to Palm Springs but I don't believe that Lisa knew Scheana was Eddie's mistress. But, who knows, maybe Lisa is playing us all. After all, she did end up getting a show (Vanderpump Rules) mostly due to that one night of drama... Also, watching these episodes makes me want to go back to Puerto Rico...I mentioned in one of my flobs that The Mister and I stayed in the same resort as the 'Wives are in now - The El Conquistador - for our honeymoon. I was in culture shock when we were there and didn't enjoy it fully (#firstworldproblems). So I definitely want to go back because it's a gorgeous resort.

Other reality show notes - I am so excited for the new season of RHONY, I keep watching the teaser over and over; I still feel really bad for Khloe Kardashian, it can not be easy going through what she is going through, next episode we will see her make the decision to file for divorce; Rich Kids of Beverly Hills - Dorothy gets into real estate in the last episode...And, in LA "getting into real estate" means being rich and well connected and deciding to get your real estate licence #jealous. Also, I heart Anderson Cooper -

#RichKids of Beverly Hills

I don't really care what anyone says, I.Love.This.Show...hashtag hashtag.

E! Online
I just found out that this show is loosely based on a Tumblr account called "The Rich Kids of Instagram." It's of course everything you would expect it to be and more. #swoonworthy

Now, of course everyone has something to say about this show...and every show like this. People seem to hate when wealth is being flaunted. I, on the other hand, see the entertainment value in shows like this. People take reality TV wayyyy too seriously. It is used for entertainment...for an escape...a guilty pleasure.

It's so funny to me when people say that they "hate" people like the #RKOBH or The Real Housewives or The Kardashians. You may hate some of the things that they've done..or hate the way they have presented themselves. But, to say you "hate" someone you have never met and have just seen on (edited) TV is so ludicrous. Don't be that person. If you are going to hate something, do your research and hate it for a reason...not just because you read in HuffPo that you should be hating it. I could seriously go on for hours about this topic but I will leave you with this - In any other aspect of life would you ever just look at someone's Instagram account, see that they posted a picture of a Chanel bag and immediately claim that you hate them?

#JealousyIsNotAGoodLook

#RichKids of Beverly Hills is on Sunday nights (Following everyone's favorite K family) on E! at 10/9c

Kourtney Kardashian

My love for the Kardashians is no secret. I know they have a lot of haters and controversy, but I think that's what's great about them. I love them for playing the game so well. They have amazing style and taste and I think that is also, why they are so good at what they do. I (as well as many other women) look to them for style/lifestyle advice every day.

Which brings me to my girl Kourtney. After seeing her gorgeous home in InStyle I realized she is my Creative Spirit Animal. I could move into this home exactly the way it was and not change a thing (decoratively speaking). Her master bedroom was my favorite and the black and white tee pee in her "piano room" is the tee pee (Land Of Nod) that I have been eyeing for quite some time for the boy's room...Hear that Mister? ;-)

InStyle/GREY CRAWFORD

InStyle/GREY CRAWFORD

Kourt also did a whimsical/Disney inspired photo shoot for The Coveteur in said gorgeous house. She is wearing a Comme des Garçons Mickey hat and a Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy feathered jacket (#swoon). Charli, her new Bengal kitten, makes an appearance in the photo shoot as well! #catlady

Take a look over at The Coveteur for more amazing pictures from the photo shoot!

Other Kardashi-Notes - For all my #KUWTK fans, how cray was the first episode of Season 9?! I feel so bad for Khloe; Bruce Jenner's hair should have it's own Malibu based reality show; Kim and Kanye are my absolute favorite famous couple and I wish they could adopt me so I could live in their palace and wear their clothes; I've realized that a big part of why I watch the Kardashians is because of The Lord; I want a pair of Arthur George socks because, duh.
